Baggage weight limits

What are the baggage weight limits for airlines ?

Airline baggage weight limits can vary considerably depending on the airline and class you are travelling in. In general, the following rules apply for international flights:

  1. Hand luggage:  Most airlines allow one piece of hand luggage plus a personal item (e.g. handbag, laptop).  The size and weight of hand luggage should normally not exceed 55 x 40 x 20 cm and weigh between 5 and 10 kg.

  2. Checked baggage: The standard limit for checked baggage is usually 20 kg for economy class and 30-40 kg for business class on international flights. Some airlines offer the option to add a higher weight limit.

  3. Excess baggage: There is usually an additional fee for excess baggage. The amount of this fee varies by airline and destination.

It is important to check the terms and conditions of the particular airline you are flying with before you travel, as the rules may vary. For example, low-cost airlines may have stricter baggage weight limits than standard airlines.
